Stratton Court Wedding Photography

If you’re planning a wedding at Stratton Court Barn and looking for a Stratton Court Barn wedding photographer, it’s a venue that photographs beautifully while still keeping the day feeling easy and well connected.

One of the biggest strengths of Stratton Court from a photography point of view is the variety. You can keep group photos close to the main celebration spaces, use the courtyard for natural drinks reception coverage, and then slip away for a short portrait session in the rose garden, grounds or woodland without being gone from guests for too long. That balance always helps the day feel smooth and uninterrupted.

The venue also has a really good mix of character and flexibility indoors. The restored barns bring in lots of texture and natural light, while the outdoor spaces add a completely different feel for portraits and candid moments. If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, that gives you even more variety, but everything still stays nicely self-contained on one site, which is always a big help for keeping the day relaxed and well paced.

Stratton Court Barn Wedding

Bridal prep in The Stables Lounge

The day began with bridal prep in The Stables Lounge, with Anna surrounded by her mum, sister, and bridesmaids. The room was buzzing as hair and makeup were finished and the final details came together. Once everything was in place, Anna moved into The Hayloft to get into her dress, before revealing her bridal look to the bridesmaids. One of the standout moments of the morning was Anna’s emotional reveal with her dad.

Dan’s arrival and buttonhole moments

While Anna was getting ready, I photographed Dan’s arrival and those quieter moments as the best man helped with buttonholes. One of my favourite parts of a wedding morning is capturing these calm, meaningful interactions, including Dan placing a buttonhole on his father.

An emotional ceremony in The Main Barn

The ceremony took place inside the Main Barn, which looked incredible with elegant styling. It was full of nervous giggles, heartfelt personal vows, and a tree planting ceremony that made everything feel even more intimate and meaningful.

Confetti in the courtyard

After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the courtyard for confetti. Anna and Dan were showered with petals and congratulations, with lots of cheers and smiling faces all around.

Drinks, hugs, and happy reunions

The drinks reception was full of warmth and energy, with big hugs, happy tears, and plenty of time spent catching up with family and friends. These candid moments are often the heart of the story, and this part of the day was packed with them.

Family and bridal party portraits

We moved on to family and bridal party photos, keeping things relaxed and efficient so everyone could get back to enjoying the celebrations.

A full group photo in the courtyard

Before guests headed back in, we captured a big group photo of everyone together, a great way to remember the full atmosphere and the people who made the day what it was.

Relaxed couple portraits around the grounds

We then slipped away for relaxed couple portraits around the Stratton Court Barn grounds. The light was perfect and it gave us the chance to capture natural moments that felt completely like them.

The LEGO guestbook idea

One of the standout details was their alternative guestbook: a LEGO board where guests built their own LEGO characters and added name tags. It was such a fun idea and everyone loved getting involved.

The Byre set for the wedding breakfast

The wedding breakfast was served in The Byre and the room looked incredible. The handmade centrepieces, inspired by Anna and Dan’s shared love of video games and fantasy, were packed with personality and completely true to them.

A cheering entrance and heartfelt speeches

Before the meal, we had speeches from the father of the bride, the groom, and the bride, all wonderfully personal and emotional. Later, more speeches from the bridal party brought plenty of laughter and kept the atmosphere warm and lively.

Night-time portraits in Ferne Wood

As the evening drew in, I took Anna and Dan into Ferne Wood for a nighttime portrait session. With creative lighting to pick out the couple, the gazebo, and the surrounding trees, we created a dramatic image that’s one of my favourites from the whole day.

Sparklers in the courtyard

We also captured a sparkler photo in the courtyard, a brilliant moment for guests and always a fun way to add something a little different to the story.

Cake cutting and the first dance

After sparklers, it was back inside for the cake cutting, followed by the first dance, which opened up the dance floor for the night ahead.

A packed dance floor and wild moves

From there it was straight into a packed party full of energy, inflatable guitars, and some truly wild moves.

A champagne spray finale

Right before I finished up, we ended with one final moment: a champagne spray photo that was an absolute blast to photograph and created one of the standout images of the day.

A huge congratulations to Anna and Dan. It was a truly beautiful wedding and such a pleasure to photograph your day at Stratton Court Barn. If you’re planning your own wedding at Stratton Court Barn and looking for a relaxed Oxfordshire wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you.

Why Stratton Court Barn works so well for wedding photography

Stratton Court Barn is a venue that gives you a lot of photographic variety without needing to go anywhere else. The restored barns work beautifully for the main parts of the day, while the courtyard, formal Rose Garden, lake and surrounding grounds give you different backdrops for confetti, group photos, couple portraits and evening images. The venue is also exclusive use, which helps the day feel more private and relaxed, and that usually leads to better, more natural photographs.

Another reason it photographs so well is the flexibility. Stratton Court Barn offers indoor and outdoor ceremony options, including the courtyard, Rose Garden and woodland setting at Ferne Wood, with The Main Barn and The Byre available as strong backup options if the weather changes. For couples, that means you are not relying on one single part of the venue to carry the whole day. For photography, it means there is always somewhere that works well, whatever the season or weather decides to do.

Best places for wedding photos at Stratton Court Barn

One of the best things about Stratton Court Barn is how many different photo opportunities there are within a short walk. The courtyard is ideal for those in-between moments straight after the ceremony, as well as hugs, drinks and candid guest photos. The Rose Garden works really well for group photos and relaxed portraits, while the lake and wider grounds give you space for something a little quieter if you want a short breather together. The venue also highlights sunset portraits by the lake and the Rose Garden as standout options, which makes sense from a photography point of view.

If you are planning an outdoor ceremony, Ferne Wood gives you something completely different, with a woodland aisle and oak-framed gazebo that feels more secluded and immersive. Then later in the day, the barns and courtyard lighting can work brilliantly for evening photos, especially if you want a few atmospheric images without leaving your guests for long.

  • Talented, thoughtful, and hard-working wedding photographer

We couldn’t be happier with Andy as our wedding photographer. From the moment he arrived, he made us feel completely at ease and blended into the day so naturally.

He brought fantastic photo ideas, and he also took the time to listen to what we wanted, making sure our vision was captured.

So many of our guests commented on how hard he worked throughout the day. He was nonstop, and we honestly don’t know how he still had energy by the end.

We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a talented, thoughtful, and hard-working photographer.
