Kimberley & Jack’s Wedding at Rivervale Barn
Relaxed, story-led wedding photography, whatever the weather
Kimberley and Jack’s wedding at Rivervale Barn is a brilliant example of how incredible this venue can be, even when the weather does what it does best. The day had everything: a calm morning in beautiful prep spaces, a bright ceremony in the Ceremony Barn, and a proper party atmosphere in the evening. If you’d like to see more of my Berkshire weddings, you can do that here.

A Wedding at Rivervale Barn
Morning preparations in the Pamper Room
The day began in the Pamper Room at Rivervale Barn, where Kimberley and her bridesmaids had hair and makeup in a bright, relaxed space. Despite the rain outside, the mood inside was calm and upbeat, with plenty of laughter as the morning unfolded.
Getting ready in the bridal suite
Once hair and makeup were finished, everyone moved into the bridal suite for final touches. Kimberley getting into her dress was followed by a beautifully emotional reveal with her dad, one of those quiet moments that always means so much and makes for such honest photographs.
Ceremony in the bright and airy Ceremony Barn
The ceremony took place in Rivervale’s Ceremony Barn, with beautiful beams and natural light creating a stunning backdrop. Kimberley’s dad brought a lovely touch of humour too, which kept everyone smiling and relaxed throughout.
Drinks reception and time to mingle
After the ceremony, guests gathered inside to enjoy drinks and catch up. With the rain continuing outside, this was a relaxed part of the day, full of conversations and natural interactions as everyone settled into the celebrations.
Group photos on the patio
When the rain eased, we headed outside for group photos on the patio. Making the most of a dry spell meant we could capture these important family and friend photos without rushing, keeping everything relaxed and enjoyable.
Couple portraits in the gardens
Later in the drinks reception, I took Kimberley and Jack into the gardens for relaxed couple portraits. These were kept natural and unposed, giving them a chance to enjoy a few quiet moments together while creating images that felt completely like them.
Confetti in the courtyard
We managed to squeeze in a fun confetti moment in the courtyard, bringing a burst of colour and energy to the day. It was a great lift after the rain and created some brilliant, joyful images.
Creative portraits at The Spinney
Towards the end of the drinks reception, we headed to The Spinney for some creative portraits using off-camera flash. This added a dramatic contrast to the softer images earlier in the day and worked particularly well with the changing light.
Wedding breakfast and speeches
The wedding breakfast was served in the main barn, followed by speeches that brought together laughter, stories, and a few emotional moments. It was a lovely way to round off the daytime celebrations before moving into the evening.
Smoke bombs
One of the most memorable moments came when we brought together the bridal party and a few close friends for a walking shot with smoke bombs. It did not quite go to plan, but that only added to the fun. There were plenty of laughs, and the resulting photos captured the energy and personality of the group perfectly.
First dance and father-daughter dance
The evening began with Kimberley and Jack’s first dance, followed by a lively father and daughter dance that filled the floor with energy and smiles.
A packed dance floor and evening celebrations
As the night continued, the dance floor quickly filled. With LED foam batons lighting things up and guests fully embracing the party, the atmosphere stayed high right through to the end of the night.
Despite the weather, Kimberley and Jack’s wedding was full of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. A perfect example of how amazing a Rivervale Barn wedding can be, come rain or shine.
