A natural couple portrait of the bride and groom at Woodland Weddings

Sam & Dan’s Wedding at Woodland Weddings

Hand fasting ceremony and a ceilidh after dark

Sam & Dan’s wedding at Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood was a relaxed, personality-filled woodland celebration. From a humanist ceremony with hand fasting, to confetti in the trees, speeches under the stretch tent, pie and mash for dinner, and a ceilidh that filled the forest floor, their day made the most of everything this Tring woodland venue does best.

The Wedding Day

Sam and Dan’s wedding at Woodland Weddings in Tring was a truly unique and magical celebration. As a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, it was an honor to capture the special moments of their day.

The day began with bride prep at an Airbnb in Tring, where I photographed Sam as she had her hair and makeup done. I then headed to Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood to photograph Dan as he put the final touches in place and greeted guests.

The Humanist ceremony was unique and included a hand fastening ceremony, which was beautiful to witness and photograph. The ceremony was finished with the bride and groom walking back down the aisle with their guests showering them in confetti.

The reception was a relaxed affair, with guests enjoying drinks and relaxing on hay bales and the giant tree swing. Speeches were given under the stretch tent and then everyone enjoyed a delicious pie and mash meal, followed by the most incredible cookies for dessert!

After the meal, I took the couple for a short walk out of the woods to the lane that approaches the site for some portraits. The evening was great fun to capture. The couple had booked a Ceilidh band to entertain guests and everyone enjoyed dancing the night away as the darkness descended onto the woods while others cosied up under blankets by the fire pits.

Overall, Woodland Weddings in Tring is an enchanting outdoor wedding venue for a truly unique and intimate wedding experience. As a wedding photographer, I would highly recommend it to any couple looking for a special and memorable wedding day.

FAQs

Yes. I’ve photographed many weddings at Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood and know how the site works throughout the day, from ceremonies in the woods to evenings under the stretch tent and around the fire pits.

Absolutely. It’s ideal for couples who want a laid-back, outdoor day with space for guests to relax, mingle, and enjoy the setting.

I often use quieter woodland paths, the approach lane to the site, and nearby open areas. This keeps portraits relaxed without taking you away from guests for long.

I’m confident working in low light and bring lighting that suits the setting, allowing me to capture the atmosphere without overpowering it.
