Nicky & Lee’s Wedding at Woodland Weddings
A relaxed woodland wedding with firepit speeches and live music
Nicky & Lee’s wedding at Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood was a relaxed, personality-filled celebration built around the woodland setting. From a calming pre-ceremony moment with Faye’s kittens, to a ceremony under the trees with a sand ceremony, BBQ dining, speeches by the firepits, golden-hour portraits in the field, and live music and dancing into the evening, the whole day felt informal, fun, and completely them.

The Wedding Day
I had the pleasure of photographing Nicky and Lee’s beautiful wedding at Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood in Tring. This secluded glen provided the perfect backdrop for their special day, with its dappled light and stretch tent and tipis creating a magical atmosphere.
Nicky was feeling a bit nervous about being the centre of attention, but Faye, the owner of Woodland Weddings, had a brilliant idea to help her relax. She brought along her new kittens to show Nicky before the ceremony, and it worked like a charm. The adorable little kittens instantly put a smile on Nicky’s face and helped calm her nerves.
The ceremony began with Lee walking in accompanied by his two daughters, made even more special by the song Lee by Tenacious D playing in the background. Nicky then made her entrance, walking down the aisle with a close friend by her side.
The ceremony itself was held under the tree canopy, creating a romantic and intimate setting. One of the highlights was the sand ceremony, where the couple poured sand from two separate vessels into one. This symbolic act represented their union as two individuals becoming one.
After the ceremony, there were plenty of hugs and congratulations from their loved ones. Guests enjoyed canapes and drinks in the woods before we headed out for group portraits in a nearby field.
For their wedding breakfast, Nicky and Lee opted for a BBQ. Rustic tables were set up for guests to enjoy their meal in this enchanting woodland setting.
Afterwards, everyone relaxed in the woods, enjoying drinks and visiting the glitter bar. The bride, groom, and their guests had glitter makeup applied to their faces, adding an extra sparkle to the festivities.
As evening fell, we gathered around fire pits at the centre of the glen for the speeches. Afterwards, I took Nicky and Lee out to the field again to capture some portraits during the golden hour.
The evening continued with dancing and live music in the woods. Lee even surprised everyone by playing a song on the drums, showcasing his musical talents. It was a wonderful moment that brought everyone together.
My coverage of the evening ended with Nicky and Lee dancing away on stage, surrounded by their loved ones. It was truly a fantastic wedding to capture in such an incredible location. Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood in Tring provided the perfect setting for Nicky and Lee’s special day, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
