Clare & Kris’ Wedding at South Farm

A sunny outdoor ceremony and relaxed celebrations at South Farm

Clare and Kris were married at South Farm, with a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Summerhouse followed by relaxed celebrations across the gardens and barns. With sunshine, ice creams during the drinks reception, colourful bunting decorating the Tudor Barn, and a lively evening party in the Horse Barn, their day had the perfect mix of warmth and fun.

South Farm Wedding

Arriving at South Farm

I arrived at South Farm early to capture a few scene setting images around the venue. The farmhouse, gardens and ceremony setup around the Summerhouse all looked beautiful in the sunshine. South Farm always photographs well and it was clear from the start that this was going to be a fantastic day.

Calm Morning Bride Prep in the Coach House Suite

Clare was getting ready in the Coach House Suite, a lovely calm space that works beautifully for morning prep. Hair and makeup took place upstairs while the dress hung from the wooden beam, ready for the day ahead. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of anticipation as the final preparations came together.

Groom Prep with Kris and His Groomsmen

Next door in the Stable Room, Kris was getting ready with his groomsmen. Before everyone finished getting dressed he gave them cufflinks as a thank you for being part of the day. After buttonholes were pinned on outside we took a few relaxed group photos together.

Outdoor Ceremony at the Summerhouse

The ceremony took place outdoors at the Summerhouse, which is one of the most picturesque spots at South Farm. Clare walked down the aisle with her father before joining Kris and walking together the final few steps to the Summerhouse.

The ceremony was filled with laughter and smiles, and ended with a big cheer from all their guests.

Confetti by the Iconic Blue Door

After the ceremony everyone gathered in front of the farmhouse for confetti by the iconic blue door. There was loads of colour and energy as Clare and Kris walked through a shower of petals.

The Big Group Photo

Before guests dispersed into the drinks reception we gathered everyone together for a full group photo outside the farmhouse.

Garden Drinks Reception and Ice Creams

The drinks reception took place in the gardens, creating a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. Guests enjoyed catching up with each other while ice creams were served in the sunshine.

Family and Bridal Party Photos

We kept the formal photos efficient with family groups and bridal party photos in front of the farmhouse.

Fun Groomsmen Photos Around the Grounds

We also took advantage of some of South Farm’s unique features with a few extra groomsmen photos. The traction engine and the Romany wagons made great backdrops and added a bit of personality to the set.

Couple Portraits in the Gardens

For the first set of portraits we stayed within the gardens, making use of the bridge over the pond and the surrounding greenery. It is a lovely part of the venue that offers beautiful natural backdrops without needing to go far.

Colourful Details Inside the Tudor Barn

Inside the Tudor Barn everything was ready for the wedding breakfast. Clare’s mum had made colourful bunting which decorated the barn all the way around and looked fantastic.

Wedding Breakfast Entrance and Candid Moments

Clare and Kris were welcomed into the Tudor Barn with guests cheering as they made their entrance. Between courses they wandered around chatting with guests, which created lots of lovely natural moments to photograph.

Guests also completed a “How well do you know Clare and Kris?” crossword at their tables, which added a fun interactive touch.

Quick Portraits on the Tree Lined Driveway

Between courses we slipped out for a few quick portraits along the tree lined driveway. The soft light there made for some beautiful relaxed images.

Heartfelt Speeches in the Tudor Barn

Speeches followed with contributions from the father of the bride, the father of the groom, Clare, Kris and the best man. There was a great mix of laughter, emotion and lovely reactions from guests throughout the room.

Exploring the Farm and Relaxing by the Fire Pits

After the meal guests spent time exploring the farm and enjoying the evening atmosphere. Many wandered around the grounds to see the animals while others relaxed by the fire pits with drinks in hand, making the most of the peaceful setting that makes South Farm so special.

Cutting the Cake

Everyone gathered back in the Tudor Barn for the cutting of the cake, which marked the start of the evening celebrations.

First Dance and a Packed Dance Floor

The evening party took place in the Horse Barn with its distinctive glass dance floor. Clare and Kris opened the dance floor with their first dance before the party got into full swing.

Night Time Portrait on the Driveway

Later in the evening we stepped outside for a romantic night time portrait along the driveway. The darker surroundings and subtle lighting created a completely different look from the daytime portraits.

Champagne Spray Finale

To finish coverage we captured a champagne spray photo on the driveway. It was a brilliant way to end the day and made for a fun final image.

Clare and Kris’ wedding at South Farm had everything you could hope for in a summer wedding. As a South Farm wedding photographer, days like this are always a joy to capture. Sunshine, a beautiful outdoor ceremony, relaxed celebrations in the gardens and a lively evening party made it a joy to photograph.
