Bride and groom and guests cheering at a Shendish Manor wedding

Laura & Tom’s Wedding at Shendish Manor

A Hertfordshire wedding day with documentary coverage and big dance floor energy

Laura & Tom’s November wedding at Shendish Manor was a brilliant mix of relaxed moments, personal touches, and a high-energy evening party. From morning prep in the Bridal Suite, to Tom helping decorate the Longman Suite, a ceremony in the Dickinson Suite, and a sparkler send-off to finish, their day was full of warmth, humour, and atmosphere.

Great evening coverage and dance floor moments

The Wedding Day

My coverage began with bridal prep in the Shendish Manor Bridal Suite, photographing Laura as she had her hair and makeup done. Alongside documentary moments, I captured details of her dress, shoes, jewellery, and her pink rose bouquet by Maples Flowers.

While I was with Laura, my second photographer spent the morning with Tom, documenting him helping decorate the Longman Suite for the wedding breakfast. He also captured relaxed portraits of Tom and his groomsmen, including a fun Ghostbusters-style walk that set the tone for the day.

The ceremony took place in the Dickinson Suite and included readings from the groomsmen and Laura’s brother. After the ceremony, Laura and Tom were congratulated by their guests before we headed outside for group photos, including a full group shot with everyone.

The wedding breakfast was served in the Longman Suite and was followed by speeches filled with laughter and great reactions.

The evening celebrations kicked off with the cutting of the cake and the first dance, before the dance floor filled up fast. One of the standout moments was Tom and his groomsmen taking over the floor with a “Weird Al” Yankovic medley, which had everyone in stitches.

The night finished with a sparkler shot outside, a perfect way to round off a brilliant wedding day.

  • Relaxed documentary photos that felt completely natural

We spent a long time researching wedding photographers before we met Andy Sidders at a wedding fair. As soon as we spoke to him and saw the quality of his photographs and albums, we knew we’d found a true gem. We had a November wedding and wanted someone who could cope with reduced daylight and wasn’t afraid of getting a little cold and wet if needed.

On our engagement shoot, Andy instantly put us at ease and took the time to get to know us. It meant we were much calmer on the wedding day and had complete confidence that he and his second shooter would capture everything. We weren’t wrong, the end result was a set of stunning photos we’re so proud of.

Andy’s relaxed, documentary style was exactly what we wanted. He caught people naturally throughout the day, suggested some amazing shots, and also captured the formal group photos we asked for. We were most apprehensive about couple photos, but because he made us feel so at ease, the shots of us are all genuine.

Andy handled the whole day calmly and professionally, helping us through it and working with the venue to keep everything on track. Many of our guests commented on how much they liked him, and how non-intrusive he and his second photographer were. Once we received the photos, so many people said they were the best and most natural wedding photos they’d seen.

We’re thrilled with the photos, they capture our day perfectly and bring so many memories back to life. The album Andy produced, and then spent time tweaking for us, is the best memento we could have asked for and genuinely the best quality wedding album we’ve seen.

Dealing with Andy from start to finish has been a pleasure. We couldn’t have asked for more in a wedding photographer. Thank you so much!
