Laura & Sam’s wedding at Woodland Weddings at Lila’s Wood was a laid-back outdoor celebration built around the setting. The day started with prep at a nearby Airbnb, followed by a humanist ceremony in the woods, petal confetti, group photos among the trees, portraits in the field, and a stretch tent wedding breakfast. As the sun dropped, we caught golden light for a final set of portraits before the evening dancing began.

The day started with me capturing the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready at a charming Airbnb just outside of Tring. It was a relaxed and joyful atmosphere as they did their own hair and makeup, adding a personal touch to their wedding preparations. After capturing a few group portraits, I made my way to Lila’s Wood to meet Sam and capture his excitement as he welcomed the guests to the woods for the ceremony.

The humanist wedding ceremony in the woods was simply enchanting. Surrounded by nature, Laura and Sam exchanged vows and rings, with smiles and laughter filling the air. It was a joy to photograph such genuine happiness and love between them.

As the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle, their guests showered them in petal confetti, creating a beautiful moment of celebration. The atmosphere was electric as everyone moved on to enjoy drinks and be entertained by a magician who wowed everyone with his tricks.

I then took group portraits in the woods and then took portraits of the couple in a nearby field, making use of the stunning natural surroundings.

The wedding breakfast was served under a stretch tent adorned with sparkly LED lights and sunflowers, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

As luck would have it, we were blessed with beautiful golden light during sunset. We took advantage of this magical moment to capture a few more portraits of Laura and Sam in the field, creating images that truly captured their love and happiness.

The evening was filled with dancing and celebration, as everyone let loose and enjoyed the festivities.

Yes. Woodland ceremonies are ideal for documentary coverage, and I’ll capture the vows, reactions, and the wider setting without interrupting the moment.

A mix of woodland paths and the nearby field works really well. Laura & Sam’s portraits were taken in the field, with the woods close by for variety.

Yes. You can do group photos in the woodland, in the nearby field or in front of the stretch tent. If you want a large guest photo, I can also shoot from a step ladder for extra height when needed

That’s normal at woodland venues. I’m used to working with dappled light and shade, and I’ll pick spots that keep skin tones flattering and consistent.
