Alice & Steve’s Wedding at The Gatsby

A relaxed start at St John The Baptist Church

My day began at St John The Baptist Church in Great Gaddesden, where Steve greeted guests as they arrived. I took a few relaxed portraits of him outside before he headed in, taking a quiet moment before the ceremony.

Alice arrived in a vintage 1966 Austin Princess limousine, making a real statement as she stepped out of the car and into the church. It was a lovely moment to photograph, full of anticipation and excitement.

A heartfelt church ceremony

The ceremony itself was warm and personal, filled with meaningful readings and moments shared with close family and friends. As Alice and Steve were pronounced married, the church bells rang out and guests gathered outside ready to celebrate.

Confetti, congratulations, and portraits in the village

Outside the church, Alice and Steve ran through a vibrant confetti throw, followed by hugs, congratulations, and relaxed candid moments. We then took group photos at the church door before heading off for the reception.

Before leaving Great Gaddesden, I spent a few minutes with Alice and Steve capturing couple portraits using their wedding car and a nearby footpath. Despite earlier worries about the weather, we managed to stay dry for all the key moments.

Reception at The Gatsby, Berkhamsted

The celebrations continued at The Gatsby in Berkhamsted, a venue I know well and love working in. Guests enjoyed drinks while I captured natural moments as everyone settled in. The space looked fantastic, styled with floral arrangements by Apple Blossom Flowers.

I created a series of dramatic portraits on the Gatsby’s grand staircase using flash, followed later by more relaxed portraits on the streets of Berkhamsted, making the most of the evening light.

Speeches, live music, and a packed dance floor

After the meal, speeches from Alice’s father and Steve brought laughter and emotion in equal measure. The evening then shifted into full celebration mode with live music from The Blue Rinse Band, filling the dance floor.

One of the standout moments of the night was Steve surprising everyone by singing, a personal and unforgettable moment that perfectly summed up the day.

A brilliant day from start to finish

Alice and Steve’s wedding was full of personality, energy, and genuine connection, from the quiet moments before the ceremony to the final songs of the night at The Gatsby. It was a pleasure to photograph their day and tell the story as it naturally unfolded.
