Stowe House Wedding – Maia & Matt
Maia and Matt had a gorgeous wedding at Stowe House in Buckinghamshire.
My coverage of their day began at Horwood House Hotel, where both Maia and Matt were getting ready. Maia was joined by her parents and her three bridesmaids, while Matt was joined by his three groomsmen.
Both Maia and Matt travelled to Stowe School in style in a helicopter. The boys were first to leave, so I photographed them having a glass of fizz before take-off and then raced over to Stowe House (in my car) to capture the girls arriving by the chopper.
The girls continued with their prep at Stowe, which allowed me a little time to photograph the ceremony room details before the bride stepped into her gown.
The ceremony took place in the stunning Marble Hall. During the ceremony, its doors were open, offering a magnificent view of the lake and the Corinthian Arch.
For most of the ceremony, I photographed the proceedings from the doorway, giving me a lovely view of the couple with their guests in the room behind them.
The ceremony was lovely. Maia and Matt both looked incredible and were beaming with happiness.
After the ceremony the newlyweds exited the ceremony onto the South Portico Terrace and were showered in confetti by their guests. Following this, Maia and Matt were congratulated by their guests and enjoyed had time to chat with their guests while guests were entertained by Gary Schiffman who is an incredibly talented magician.
I took several group photos of the bride and groom with their family and bridal party on the South Lawn before heading off for portraits with the couple.
Maia and Matt had arranged a golf buggy to shuttle us round the venue grounds, which gave us the opportunity to have photos at several locations, including The Temple of Ancient Virtue, The Temple of British Worthies and The Palladian Bridge. I was able to fly my drone at The Palladian Bridge so was able to capture a shot of the couple from an unusual vantage point.
My favourite portrait from the day was a romantic portrait of Maia and Matt kissing taken from the far side of the Octagon Lake with views of Stowe House in the background. As the grounds of Stowe House are open to the public (it’s well worth a visit if you are a National Trust member) the background of the shot was busy with people enjoying the grounds. So, I took the time to remove the additional people from the shot while editing the photos.
On returning to the reception, I had a few minutes to grab detail photographs of the Marble Hall setup for wedding breakfast before the guests gathered for some the main event, pig racing! The contenders were ‘Porka Radcliffe’, ‘Oscar Pigtorius’ and the speedy ‘Uswine Bolt’ who raced from one end of their pen to the other for tasty treats. The pigs were a great fun part of the day! One of my favourite shots from the day is a shot of Maia and Matt petting the pigs after the races.
Following on from the pig races, I gathered all the guests onto the steps from the lawn up to the house for a group shot of Maia and Matt, together with all their guests.
Wedding breakfast was then served in the Marble Hall and was ended with speeches from the bride and groom, the bride’s parents, the maid of honour and the best man.
The evening party was led by an all-female band ‘She Music Global’ who were fantastic and entertained a packed-out dance floor.
At the end of the band’s set, the guests gathered on the South Portico Terrace and were treated to a firework display and then partied the night away with a DJ playing on the terrace.
Many congratulations to Maia and Matt!
