Fanhams Hall Wedding – Vidya & Martin

I had the pleasure of capturing Vidya and Martin’s wedding at Fanhams Hall in Ware, Hertfordshire. Their special day, set on a bank holiday weekend in August, was a beautiful blend of cultures and joyous celebrations.

My day began with capturing the bridal preparations, where Vidya and her bridesmaids shared moments of excitement and anticipation. Meanwhile, Martin was busy welcoming guests as they arrived at the stunning Fanhams Hall, a venue that combines historical elegance with contemporary charm.

The ceremony took place in the Long Gallery. The ceremony was uniquely marked by a performance from Indonesian dancers, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the proceedings. As they danced gracefully down the aisle and at the front of the ceremony space, everyone was captivated.

Following the dance, the bride and her bridesmaids made their procession. A friend of Vidya and Martin, dressed in traditional Indonesian attire, conducted the ceremony. The ceremony was heartwarming, with personal anecdotes about how the couple met and their journey together.

After the ceremony, guests gathered outside for a confetti shot. I took this opportunity to capture candid, documentary-style photos of the couple receiving congratulations from their loved ones. Looming dark rain clouds meant we took portraits a little earlier than I regularly do at a wedding. The rain caught us towards the end of our portraits but we were prepared with umbrellas. Despite the rain, Vidya and Martin and I embraced the moment, resulting in some stunning portraits in the garden. One of my favourite shots was taken with the help of Toastmaster Mark Lanahan, who helped sing “Singin’ In The Rain,” creating a magical and memorable moment.

The wedding breakfast in the Great Hall was another highlight, with speeches filled with humor and nostalgia, evoking great reactions from the guests. The surprise performance by Singing Waiters, arranged by Vidya for Martin and the guests, was a hit, adding an operatic flair to the celebration.

As the evening cleared up, guests enjoyed the splendid gardens of Fanhams Hall. I took more portraits of the couple, exploring the beautiful grounds and capturing moments by the lily ponds.

The evening festivities began with the cake cutting and the couple’s first dance, followed by a lively party with a live band that had everyone dancing the night away.

Capturing Vidya and Martin’s wedding at Fanhams Hall was an absolute delight, filled with unique moments, cultural richness. As a Fanhams Hall Wedding Photographer, it was a day that truly showcased the beauty and versatility of this magnificent venue.
