I’ve photographed weddings in all sorts of places, from local barns to grand country houses. But there are still a few venues that stand out as places I’d genuinely love to work at.

Some are on this list because they offer something completely different. Some are venues I already know and love. One is especially personal because it’s where I got married.

Hedsor House (Buckinghamshire)

Hedsor House is a stunning Buckinghamshire wedding venue and one I’ve wanted to return to for years.

I’ve been there before for a photography workshop, so I already know how beautiful it is, but I’ve never photographed a real wedding there for one of my own couples. That’s what makes it a bucket list venue for me. It would be great to go back and document a proper wedding day there, with all the real moments, emotion and atmosphere that you just do not get from a workshop setting.

A quick note: these images were taken during a workshop, not at a real wedding, but they show the kind of work I’d love to create as a Hedsor House wedding photographer.

Woburn Safari Park (Bedfordshire)

Woburn Safari Park is on my bucket list because it offers something completely different from a typical wedding venue.

What makes it especially exciting is the chance to create photos you simply could not get anywhere else. Couples can add an exclusive VIP safari tour or even book an animal encounter, which opens up some amazing possibilities. I’d love to create something really memorable with the couple and the elephants, or even a fun portrait involving the meerkats, if that were possible on the day.

Smeetham Hall Barn (Essex)

Smeetham Hall Barn is on this list for a very personal reason: it’s where I got married in April 2014.

We had our ceremony in the barn, a marquee reception, and portraits out in the fields on a very windy day. So although I’ve never photographed a wedding there myself, I already know what it feels like to experience it as a couple.

It has a relaxed feel and the kind of atmosphere that suits natural wedding photography so well. It would honestly be very special to go back there and tell a full wedding story for another couple.

The Dairy at Waddesdon (Buckinghamshire)

The Dairy at Waddesdon is another venue I’d love to photograph properly.

I second shot a wedding there early in my career, but I’ve never shot a wedding there for myself. I remember it as a lovely venue, and I still think it would be a brilliant place to work.

It would be great to return now with more experience and photograph a full wedding there in my own style. It’s one of those venues that feels elegant without being too formal, and I think it would suit a relaxed wedding day really well.

Thursford Garden Pavilion (Norfolk)

Thursford Garden Pavilion is on my bucket list because it feels full of character and completely different from a typical wedding venue.

It is also just a couple of miles from my father-in-law’s home in Hindringham, so it’s a venue in an area I already know well. What makes it so exciting is its personality. It is not a standard wedding setting, and that is exactly why it stands out.

Known for its famous Christmas show, Thursford has features like the merry-go-round that would be brilliant for portraits. It feels like the sort of place where you could create photos that are playful, colourful and a bit different.
