Emma & Wayne had a church wedding at St Mary’s the Virgin in Cuddington followed by their reception at Burford Bridge Hotel at the foot of Boxhill, in Dorking, Surrey. I was the second photographer for the day, assisting Essex based wedding photographer, Robin Ball.
My day started covering groom prep at Wayne’s family home in Epsom. The house was filled with family and Wayne’s groomsmen as they all prepared for the day ahead. I photographed Wayne as he put on the finishing touches to his morning suit and also as he helped his son, Harrison tie his neck-tie and pin his buttonhole on. Wayne’s mum had presented Wayne with a few presents and also some old photos of Wayne as a boy taken in a photo booth.
When everyone was ready there was time for a quick cider from the boot of the best man, Dean’s car before heading off to the church to meet and greet guests before the church service.
St Mary’s the Virgin Church
St Mary the Virgin in Cuddington, Worcester Park, is a lovely Anglican Church in Surrey. The service was lovely and was given by Reverend Andy. During the ceremony as I was the second shooter I took an alternate viewpoint than normal I photographed the brides’ entry, vows and first kiss from the balcony at the back of the church.
Following the ceremony and after all the guests had congratulated the newlyweds we head to Boxhill to take some portraits. It was a freezing cold day up on Boxhill so we worked fast so Emma and Wayne could return to the warmth! As a second photographer my job was to provide an alternate angle and focal length to the shots taken by Rob.
Mercure Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel Wedding Photography
Nestled at the foot of Box Hill, the Mercure Burford Bridge Hotel is a lovely Surrey wedding venue. The Tithe Barn is a stunning room for hosting weddings and receptions.
One feature I love about the Burford Bridge Hotel is it has an outdoor swimming pool with changing rooms. Although the pool was covered over for February we were limited in how we could use the location, but we still got some of my favourite shots of the day making use of the changing rooms. During this time guests were entertained by swing singer Ray Lowe at the bar before we organised guests for group shots.
The guests sat down to wedding breakfast followed by the speeches. The highlight of the speeches for me was the final speech given by Emma & Wayne’s children who joked about how their parents had improved since meeting each other.
Emma & Wayne had a split wedding cake, one half decorated as a traditional tiered wedding cake the other as a tiered superhero cake. Wayne is Captain America crazy, his cufflinks also featured the shield of Captain America. I shot both the cutting of the cake and the first dance from the balcony of the Tithe Barn which again provided an alternate angle to the one Rob captured as the primary photographer.
Wayne & Emma were great fun to photograph and were a lovely couple, with fantastic kids, I wish them all the best for their future together as a happy family!
