Maryam and Adam’s wedding was great fun to photograph with lots of lovely friends and family and bucket loads of confetti at every opportunity!
The Ned Hotel
I met Maryam and her bridesmaids at The Ned Hotel. I photographed Maryam’s final preparations and then took portraits of Maryam on The Ned’s wonderful spiral staircase. After a few quick portraits, we waited outside for a taxi. While waiting for the taxi, a team of street cleaners passed by. This helped create one of my favourite photos from the day, a rather unusual wedding photo of Maryam and her bridesmaids waving to the street cleaners as they passed by!
The Drapers Arms
The taxi took us all to The Drapers Arms. Adam was waiting there for the arrival of his bride-to-be with family and the couple’s close friends. Maryam entered the pub to lots of whooping and cheers. After greeting all their guests, everyone head upstairs for a meal on a banquet table. Before the meal Maryam went around the table giving a personal introduction to each of her guests. It was a lovely touch!
Islington Town Hall Wedding
After lunch, the guests walked to Islington Town Hall for a 5 pm wedding ceremony in The Council Chamber. It was
At the end of the ceremony, Maryam and Adam had
The guests then made their way to the wedding reception at Islington Metal Works. I walked with Maryam and Adam we stopped off in front of Islington Fire Station for some creative portraits. I asked Maryam and Adam to stay perfectly still while I took slow shutter photos of them in front of the fire station while traffic passed by. I love using this effect whenever I can as it can produce some stunning photos.
Islington Metal Works
On arrival at Islington Metal Works, there was more confetti as the couple entered the room. It was a great way to start the reception! Islington Metal Works is a completely unique venue and a fantastic space for weddings and other events. There is also a perfect location for couple portraits on its doorstep. Just outside the venue is a tiled wall with the text “Do What You Love” on it, which I loved using as a backdrop.
Guests enjoyed drinks from the tube carriage cocktail bar and had fun using the photo booth. Speeches were given on the stage
The couple had a first dance to “I Only Wanna Be With You” by Dusty Springfield. The dance ended with even more confetti as confetti cannons were fired at the end of the song. From then on the dance floor was packed with lots of funky moves and lots of flossing!
Many congratulations to Maryam and Adam, it was a great fun wedding to be part of!
