Lisa & Tom tied the knot at Milling Barn, in Hertfordshire in the first week of October, they were blessed with a lovely sunny day. I was the second photographer for the day, assisting Cambridgeshire wedding photographer, Ryan Jarvis.
My day started covering groom prep at Tom’s house in Little Paxton where I met Tom and his best man, Stuart. I took shots of both the of the guys preparing for the day and both struggling with ties.
Tom had arranged his local pub to open early on his wedding day. So after Tom and Stuart were ready, we head to the bar to meet a few of Tom’s close friends for a quiet drink and a quick game of darts.
At the pub, Tom presented his best man with an engraved silver pocket watch. Tom also had his own matching pocket watch.
Following a quick drink, it was time to make our way to Milling Barn for the ceremony.
Milling Barn Wedding Photography
Milling Barn is a lovely Hertfordshire wedding venue, located near the village of Throcking, close to Royston.
I took photos of wedding guests arriving at the Milling Barn while Ryan covered Lisa’s preparations for the day. Milling Barn has the facilities to host indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies. Lisa and Tom had opted for an indoor wedding ceremony. The barn is a stunning location with high ceilings and exposed beams. During the ceremony, my job was to provide an alternate angle to Ryan’s to help give the couple a lovely selection of wedding photographs for them to best remember their wedding day. In the remainder of the day, my role was mainly to offer documentary style wedding photography taking pictures of interactions between the guests enjoying themselves.
Milling Barn has lots of fantastic photo opportunities including a scenic road which leads to the site and large barn doors. My favourite photo from the day is a shot of the couple kissing on the road which leads to the venue. The lighting was just perfect with the couple beautifully backlit.
One of the highlights of the day for me was the best man’s speech. In the speech Stuart compared Tom’s life abilities using a giant Top Trumps card; the delivery of the speech was hilarious!
Tom & Lisa are a lovely couple, and I wish them all the best for their future together as husband and wife!
