“Truly amazing photos to cherish”

“Andy, thank you so much, you were fantastic on our special day, so calm and organised. Richard and I have some truly amazing photos to cherish. Everything you did for us was very professional even down to the detail on the USB. We recommend you highly.”

The Gardens of the Rose Wedding

A selection of wedding photography from Sarah-Jane and Richard’s wedding at The Gardens of the Rose in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

My day started photographing Sarah-Jane’s bridal prep at her Father’s house in St Albans. She was being assisted by her bridesmaid Emma.
Sarah-Jane had hired a stretched limo as a surprise to take her family to the wedding venue a short ride to The Gardens of the Rose.

The Gardens of the Rose

The Gardens of the Rose is the flagship garden of The Royal National Rose Society. The Gardens of the Rose feature five acres of stunning displays of tens of thousands of roses, complemented by a huge selection of companion plants making it a stunning backdrop for wedding photographs.

The wedding ceremony took place in the Edland Pavilion, an intimate ceremony venue which can host up to 40 guests. The Pavilion provides a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony as it has views across the gardens.

After the ceremony the guests enjoyed a drinks reception during which I took group and family photos of the guests.

I then took Sarah-Jane and Richard on a stroll around the gardens for their wedding portraits. The wedding was in early June (A week before the gardens are open to the public for the summer) so unfortunately the gardens weren’t quite in full bloom. However we still had a fantastic time exploring the gardens and took some lovely shots. The pergolas in the gardens make for some stunning portrait opportunities.

The wedding guests enjoyed afternoon tea in a marquee filled with pretty décor including bunting, lace and vintage crockery. The wedding cake was a 3 tier stepped cake which was made by Sarah-Jane’s aunt who is a retired wedding cake baker.

Richard’s brother gave a fantastic best-man speech within which he performed a song about Richard on a ukulele. The best-man was assisted by his daughter who held up old embarrassing photos to fit in with the lyrics.

I thoroughly enjoyed being part of Sarah-Jane and Richard’s wedding day at the Gardens of the Rose. I wish them all the best for the future as husband and wife!
