Hannah and James had a humanist wedding ceremony in Ashridge Woods, followed by a wedding reception in Hannah’s parent’s garden in Leighton Buzzard.
I had been looking forward to the wedding day as it was my first experience of a Humanist wedding. I had previously met up with Hannah and James in Ashridge woods at the clearing where the ceremony was to be held, so I was also excited to see how they had transformed the area for the ceremony.
My coverage of the wedding day began with Hannah as she had her hair and makeup
The clearing in Ashridge Woods looked perfect. Hannah and James (and their helpers) had clearly been busy working on the site on the run-up to the wedding day. Flowers provided a lovely focal point overhead of the ceremony location.
The ceremony started with the bridesmaids walking down the aisle. Hannah’s sister was one of the bridesmaids she then had the role of providing the ceremony music as she performed on the harp as Hannah walked down the aisle accompanied by her Mum and Dad.
The ceremony was an intimate ceremony with 20 or so guests. It included a hand fastening ceremony in which the couple hand their hands bound together to symbolise Hannah and James’ connection and devotion to one another. After the ceremony, I took a few group shots and then portraits of Hannah and James in the woods before everyone head off for the wedding reception at Hannah’s parent’s garden in Leighton Buzzard.
The reception was perfect! Hannah and James could not have hoped for better weather. Guests enjoyed a summer afternoon in the garden playing games including Connect Four and Jenga and were well catered for, with
Evening entertainment was provided by a fantastic band who got everyone dancing away.
Congratulation Hannah and James. Thank you for choosing me as your photographer, It was a lovely and unique wedding to be part of!
